Under 25-year-old Director candidate

I am 16 years old and have lived near and used the Heavens my whole life. From paddling and picnicking as a toddler to swinging, tree climbing and den building as a kid to now mostly walking and hanging out with friends, family and sometimes solo. I am mostly home educated including lots of time at the Heavens, forest school, craft (blacksmithing, other metal and woodwork). I’ve also enjoyed being a member of Flies Youth Theatre, Buzz Club and Stroud KiAikido Club. I have just finished my GCSEs and look forward to starting A levels (politics, sociology and criminology) at Cirencester College, the college timetable will hopefully enable me to spend time on Heaven CIC related activities.

I care about the Heavens very much and feel motivated to help keep it for the community especially kids and young people.

I am generally known as someone who is good at speaking up and organising people and events e.g speaking at Fridays for Futures rallies and organising events in my home ed group. I am comfortable and enjoy public speaking and up for using this to spread the word on how other young people can get involved. I know lots of young people and feel confident about gaining their opinions and about what may hopefully motivate their involvement.

I think it is very encouraging that the CIC specifically allows for a ‘young’ director and very much hope the post is filled, whether by me or another excellent candidate.
