Stroud Town Council Nominee
The Heavens Valley CBS is a cause and community group that is close to my heart. To me it encompasses the wonder that is community ownership of hugely important areas of land, but also says so much about organising and togetherness that I think are so important to how communities work and come together to care for what is precious to them.
I’d like to be considered for a Board position as I believe that I can bring the skills and expertise that I have amassed during my professional career initially as a Chartered Secretary, and then latterly as a comms and PR professional, working in the not-for-profit and charity sectors.
I have worked for a housing association, credit union, run a small social enterprise, worked for mutuals in the financial services sector and ten years ago, I helped develop and establish what is now the largest, ethical low-cost lender in the country - Fair for You.
I am a Director of Transition Stroud, The Bike Drop (part of Grace Network), coordinator of Stroud District Green Party and I am a Stroud Town Councillor.
Through working with these groups and organisations, I’ve got to work alongside and know a great many people locally, some of whom were founding Directors of the Heavens Valley CBS, and who have encouraged me to apply to join the Board, as they feel I have skills and attributes which could be of benefit to the CBS.
