Community Engagement
The Heavens Valley (also known as the Weyhouse, or Thrupp Farm), has long been a cherished haven for individuals, families, and friends. It is an open space on the edge of Stroud, where everyone can enjoy its streams, meadows and ancient woodlands.
The community purchase of 'The Heavens Valley' was completed in November 2024, funded by donations and share sales (we now have just over 900 shareholders) and two generous loans from supporters. Thanks to a major grant from The Summerfield Trust, those loans have now been repaid - and as of August 2025, all 102 acres of the Heavens are now owned by the community.
The people that love the Heavens are the ones that made this possible - not just by donating money, but by sharing their time, memories and knowledge of this place. Now that this important natural landscape is ours, we are coming together again, to work out how to care for it and enjoy it as a community, forever.
And we need your help!
Over the next year, we are asking people for their views, stories and ideas for the future of this place. We want to know exactly what makes it so special to the people around it - and how to make sure everyone's voices are heard in the decisions that affect it.
There are lots of ways you can get involved in shaping the next chapter of the Heavens Valley:
-
The Heavens Valley Community Survey 2026 can be found here
It takes around 10 minutes to complete, and includes a prize draw, with the chance of winning one of four £25 vouchers for a supermarket or local food shop of your choice. -
If you have 30-60 minutes to spare, we are recording structured conversations with local residents who would value the chance to share their views in more detail
