MARVELLOUS MOTHS IN THE HEAVENS VALLEY
A wonderful way to start a Sunday - and to celebrate Father’s Day - is to join us in the core valley (just below the waterfall) to find a glimpse of some of the species you might not realise are sharing the beautiful Heavens Valley with us.
Local lepidopterists Wendy Milner and Charlotte Schofield will be revealing the contents of two moth traps which will have been set either side of the valley. They are hoping to show you species such as the Elephant Hawk-Moth and Lilac Beauty and you may be lucky enough to see, close up, the Leopard Moth or the Burnished Brass.
It’s also an opportunity to learn about moths and their fascinating variations and behaviours. There will be a chance to get up close and very personal with some of these beautiful creatures. Moth trapping is a method of finding and recording moth species and all moths are released unharmed as a result.
Please note: If the weather is poor (rainy or windy) this event will be postponed until 5 July. We will alert you by email if this is the case, but if you don’t hear from us then please assume it is going ahead.
There is no charge for children under 16 years old.
We would like this event to be open for all. We have a number of free tickets available so if you’d like to take part but the entrance fee would be unaffordable right now, please contact info@heavensvalley.org.uk
