For almost thirty years, I’ve had the privilege of access to the Heavens Valley as a walker, runner, mum and dog-owner. I feel immense gratitude to those who have worked so hard to secure the community purchase. I now feel it’s my turn to step forward and share the responsibility for this magical place by offering what I can in skills, time and experience.

I currently work in research in rural affairs, including land use, agricultural policy and tree cover on farms. I am based in the Countryside and Community Research Institute (University of Gloucestershire) where I’m developing understanding and research skills relevant to caring for the Heavens. I have some experience in community research and co- production methods which I think would be useful as we, as shareholders and as the community, become more involved in caring for this space.

I was an English teacher and Head of Department in local schools for twenty-five years. My communication skills, both spoken and written, will help me to contribute to the team’s media and communications, while my management experience might contribute to strategy and meetings.

Community engagement is central to the Heavens CBS. In teaching and in research, we try to include people who might feel less confident to engage, but whose voices and involvement are valuable. I feel I have the necessary people skills to reach out to potentially marginalised groups and invite them in.

In short: I want to help.
