Tom Pedder
Under 25-year-old Director candidate
The Heavens Valley plays a key role in our community, connecting people both with each other and the natural world. Growing up with this space as the backdrop to my childhood, I now hope to help build on this, allowing a new generation of people to use and respect this important asset for years to come. I propose to share the responsibility of the role with fellow student, Nyima Gritten, using our combined skills to work on this project.
I am applying to be a director but will be backed up by Nyima Gritten, who will act as my associate and non-board member so you will, in effect, be getting two candidates for the price of one. As two candidates we have much to offer from our studies, our hobbies and our contacts within the local area. These include ecology, an interest in alternative governing structures and digital skills along with our deep personal connections with the land. As young people living and studying in Stroud, we are extremely well placed to drive youth engagement through working with projects championed by students, bringing their opinions to allow a new generation of people to use and respect the Heavens to the benefit of all.
We are both actively involved in organising and running local events from Daisy Day to the recent Heavens BioBlitz. Between us we have knowledge of the ecological, environmental and the political perspectives that this role requires having done work experience in this field with the Stroud Green Party (Tom) and Cotswold National Landscape (Nyima).
We would love to play an active role and help keep it a special place which people of all ages and walks of life can appreciate.
