Community Access and Wildlife Ranger, The Heavens Valley Community Benefit Society (CBS), Stroud

We are looking for an experienced ranger to support our ambitious plans for managing 102 acres on the doorstep of Stroud. The Heavens Valley CBS is a start-up community ownership organization, one of the largest in England with around 1,000 members so far. The site has extensive wildlife habitats, covering 40% of the site of limestone grassland, native woodlands, spring-fed streams and mature hedgerows, with 60% semi-improved pasture with great potential for nature recovery alongside a range of measures to improve community access.

The role is diverse and covers the planning and delivery of practical habitat work, management for nature recovery, maintenance and improvements to site access and accessibility. The role is community facing and involves significant hands-on outdoor physical work. Coordinating, leading and developing a diverse volunteer base is a major aspect of the role, with weekly practical volunteer work parties, including some regular Sundays.
